Kim Stewart
AUCTIONEER
License No. 189 814

Alan Ross Kim Stewart upholds a proud family tradition as a third generation Auctioneer and Proprietor of A.L.Stewart & Co., founded in Tamworth by his Grandfather, the legendary A.L. (Andy) Stewart in 1914 and successfully maintained by his son Max Stewart, a revered Auctioneer and Agent amongst his peers, and now, Kim.

With over thirty years experience as a licensed Auctioneer, Real Estate, Stock, Station, and Business Agent, Kim’s career has turned full circle with his alignment to Graeme Hennessy and L.J.Hooker Auction Services, His first property appointment being to L.J.Hooker City Sales in1972 and now.

In the late seventies, Kim regularly returned to Sydney as the inaugural Corporate Auctioneer for the worldwide agency, Richard Ellis, presiding over properties such as ‘The York’ apartments penthouses and the Myer owned Red Rooster outlets in Melbourne. As a thoroughbred and bloodstock Auctioneer, Kim has established an enviable reputation, having sold in all States and Territories of mainland Australia for leading organisations such as Magic Millions, Coles Corp., Western Australian Breeders, and QBBS of Queensland.

Kim’s other passion is race calling, and for several decades, enthusiasts recognised him as the voice of the north and northwest. As such, in 1995, Kim was persuaded to divest himself of the majority of his business interests and to become the permanent host of radio 2KY’s Racing Radio Morning show, heard in Sydney and statewide, Monday to Friday. Subsequently, Kim is privileged to have called races at all of the major metropolitan tracks in Sydney as well as guest appearances at the Darwin Gold Cup and a special invitation to the Singapore Cup carnival.

Throughout this period, and since leaving 2KY in June 2001, Kim continued to conduct property auctions on a regular contract basis for all the Major Franchise Groups including Richardson and Wrench, Century 21, L.J.Hooker, and a number of independents.

In August 2002, the redundant Quaker’s Hill Primary School was sold under Kim’s hammer for $9,700,000. This was $2,700,000 above expectations. In March 2003, Kim attained $1,350,000 for ‘Belmont’, a Victorian mansion which became the suburb’s most expensive property, whilst in Kingsford a cottage was ‘knocked down’, $710,000 above the reserve price. In June 2003, a benchmark was set in Collared at $2,020,000, far above the anticipated result.

Most recently in Canberra Kim sold in excess of $100,000,000 under the hammer with 3 properties for the ACT government.
